What is Equine Assisted Learning?

Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) is a service offering personal growth and development of life skills, social-emotional awareness, communication and experiential learning through safe and structured experiences with horses.

So, it's horse therapy then?

Not exactly.  EAL deals with life in the here and now.  Developing skills and awareness to navigate through current challenges and growth edges.  I am not a therapist and I do not heal past trauma.  If you are looking for psychotherapy with horses, I am happy to refer you to someone I know who can help.

How do horses help?

Horses have had powerful positive impacts on human wellbeing for as long as the two have interacted.  Healthy horses model healthy ways of being that we can observe and learn from.  Horses can also perceive human emotions and respond to human stress responses offering real time feedback to us without judgement.   For more information, read some of my blog posts that delve deeper into why horses are invaluable to this work.

Who is EAL for?

Everyone can benefit from the personal growth Equine Assisted Learning has to offer.  The skills and concepts covered can be applied to all aspects of life from relationships, family, self worth, obstacles holding us back or workplace and leadership benefits.

Why does Stable Lives focus on parents?

Stable Lives is particularly focused on supporting parents and families, especially those that find themselves grappling with issues outside the mainstream parenting playbook.  These parents often face crisis with little to no support available to them.  EAL can provide the calm space to be heard and offer space to find ways through the challenges they face.  Our group offerings also provide the added support of other parents in similar situations to create a village of empathetic people who understand what you are going through.

Can I do individual sessions?

Yes.  Ideally it would be great to start with the Horse Wisdom program as that covers all the basics and you can deepen from there.

You can book as an individual or join a small group of no more than 4 people which is a more cost effective option.

When are the group sessions?

Groups session times and days will be posted in the group page with the next date and time for that offering.  If you cannot find a time that suits you, please pcntact me to discuss and we can work something out.

Can I bring my child/ren?

Unfortunately, no.  I understand, as parents, it can be very difficult to attend things without your children.  However, for your space and ability to focus on your own needs, as well as for safety, we cannot accomodate unsupervised children at Stable Lives while you attend your session.  Please ensure you make other arrangements for your children while you attend sessions.
