Hello
Discovering my love for horses has been a transformative experience in my life. A horse's calm and grounding presence has taught me lessons about myself and has enriched my relationships with my children, partner, and everyone around me. As I have studied and explored the profound impact horses and horse wisdom have on humans, it has changed me as both a parent and as a happier, healthier person. Now, I share my herd of horses with others and help them discover the life skills that horses embody and apply it to their own lives. Everybody would be happier if we could "be more horse"!
My Story
I was a high school teacher for 20 plus years across different countries and states. I love working with teenagers, strange as that may seem. However, my hardest and most rewarding job has been as a parent. I love being a mum and threw myself into the role. But my dream of parenting was quite different to the reality I faced. While some of my children responded well to mainstream parenting strategies, others did not. They struggled. Their struggles played out not just in their own lives but ricocheted across our family causing havoc! I didn't understand, no-one understood. Soon I was drowning trying to be the parent I needed to be to for my children whist being misunderstood, dismissed or worse, blamed for my child's struggles.

I battled on for years with my mental health, physical health, marriage and children all suffering while I endlessly advocated, co-regulated, tried the next school/IEP/intervention/therapy and endured. Until the COVID pandemic dashed my dreams of escaping it all by traveling for a year around the world with my family, and I broke.

Knowing something had to change, we moved to the hills, got a horse and started homeschooling. Slowly, life changed. I had time to breathe, connect to nature, learn about horses and just be. Seeing the amazing impact horses had on my neurodivergent children's life and also feeling the benefits myself, I sought answers.

Those answers led me to Animal Assisted Learning and the Horse Wisdom program. My studies in Equine Assisted Learning allowed me to not only make sense of the powerful presence of horses and what they can teach us, but also to share it with others.

My Mission

Everyone can benefit from upgrading their life skills but I know first hand the challenges and isolation parenting can bring. So my mission is to provide a space where parents can be seen, be heard, be present and find a way through their unique challenges with the unique wisdom horses can offer us.

Each parent we support has a flow on effect. A calm, present, aware parent means the children and other family members will benefit too.
